Diabetes Tests:

The A1C test shows the average blood sugar levels from the past 2-3 months. This test does not require fasting and can be taken at any time of the day. The higher the percentage of the results from the A1C test the higher you are at risk of further complications with diabetes and low control of your blood sugars.

Used to further diagnose type 2, prediabetes and monitor blood sugars.

The Fasting Blood Sugar Test measures your blood sugar levels at a single point in time. This test requires an overnight fast for a minimum of eight hours. Due to some meals being high in sugar content, if taking the test, can result in an increased level of results that can be inaccurate readings of the blood sugar. Fasting provides a normal reading of the blood sugar levels.

This test is used to indicate prediabetes and diabetes.

Random Blood Sugar Test measures your blood sugar at the time you take the test. This test does not require fasting and can be taken any time of the day. Results with a blood sugar level of 200 mg/dL or higher indicate you have diabetes.

This test is used to indicate if you have diabetes.
